News Successful CleverFit fundraising campaign: almost 3000 euros for hospitals in Togo
For two years in a row now, the CleverFit Group has organised an impressive fundraising campaign to mark World Environment Day. From 5 to 7 June, fitness enthusiasts pedalled hard or ran on the cardio machines in the studios in Bavaria to do good.
Top sporting performance for a good cause
For every kilometre that a person covered on a cardio machine, the respective studio donated one euro. The participants each had ten minutes to do this. Thanks to their fantastic efforts, almost 1500 euros were raised.
Doubling the amount donated
The CleverFit group decided to double this amount, so that almost 3000 euros will now go towards equipping hospitals in Togo with solar thermal energy. This investment is particularly important for the maternity wards, where the lack of hot water is a major challenge.
Improving medical care and environmental protection
At present, women who have recently given birth are forced to buy hot water from outlets near the hospitals or prepare and transport it at home. This process is cumbersome and dangerous. In addition, the water is often heated on open wood fires, which contributes to massive deforestation and is harmful to the health of the women who maintain the fires.
By equipping more hospitals with solar thermal systems, better medical care can be guaranteed, damage to health can be prevented and a contribution can be made to environmental protection. The CleverFit fundraising campaign therefore not only has a positive impact on healthcare in Togo, but also helps to protect the environment.
We would like to thank all participants and the CleverFit group for their great support and commitment to this important cause.
