News Solar refrigerators for Tanzanian fish sellers

Our partner RUDIA from Tanzania has equipped five collectives of fishmongers in the city of Kasulu in the southwest of the country with solar refrigerators as part of our 2021 funding projects. In a first step, all fishmongers in the district were invited to apply for participation in the project. Particular attention was paid to ensuring that associations and not individuals apply and that the association has been in existence for at least one year.

Five collectives were then selected from the twelve candidates to present the most conclusive economic concept. In order to ensure the sustainable use of solar technology, the selected saleswomen were trained in the use and maintenance of the refrigerators when they were handed over. In addition, there was networking among the members, which has been consolidated through regular meetings.
