News Solar power for the health centre in Agbalossi
With support from ClimaClic, URBIS Foundation Togo installed a solar power system at the health centre in Agbalossi, in the Kara Region, in September 2026. The system improves the centre’s electricity supply and helps create better conditions for patients and healthcare staff.
A technical team carried out the installation from 14 to 16 September. The solar system provides the health centre with an independent source of electricity. It enables lighting at night, supports the refrigeration of medicines and is intended to power a water pump in the future.
Representatives of IENIB, a solar company based in Sokodé, took part in the installation, including two trainees. They worked alongside the technical team from URBIS Foundation Togo, a local welder and his apprentice. Together, they installed the solar panels, the necessary connections and safety equipment, and connected the system to the building’s electrical supply. Following an inspection of the electrical installation, the system was successfully commissioned.
Reliable electricity makes it easier for healthcare staff to carry out their daily work and helps improve patient care. Night-time lighting allows medical staff to provide care more effectively after dark. The ability to refrigerate medicines and, in the future, pump water will further strengthen the health centre’s essential services.
URBIS Foundation would like to thank ClimaClic for its support in making this project possible.
